Captain’s Letter 2017
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome old and new members to my Captain’s year at Colworth Golf Club.
In the first instance, I would like to thank Wayne Griggs, in his year as Captain 2016, for his commitment and dedication in making it a fun and successful year and with your continuing support, I will build on these foundations.
Over the next year, the committee and I will be organising Medals, Club matches, Fun Competitions and our Annual Trophy competitions for members to take part in.
Competitions are open to all members with a handicap and if you don’t have a handicap details of how to get one are displayed in the Cabin.
The course is only closed for a short time for Home Club Matches, all members are welcome to play after this period but please give priority to those playing in the matches.
Every year the greens staff do a fantastic job of providing us all with a golf course to be proud of and which indeed puts others to shame. Therefore it is up to all of us to help them look after it by repairing damaged tees with the materials provided, replacing divots, repairing pitch marks and raking the bunkers. The greens staff always have priority and it is dangerous to play when they are in range.
There is an automated system in place for members to check if the course is open during inclement weather. Please ring 01234 222524 to hear ‘course open’ or ‘course closed’ message.
If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact the committee or myself.
To all of you who competed and were triumphant in 2016, and to all who took part in making it a great year of golf, many congratulations and I look forward to your continued support in 2017.
I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that the club offers an incentive scheme to members. For every full fee paying member that you introduce to the club you will receive a £25 discount from the following year’s subscription.
Here’s to a happy and successful year of enjoyable golf.
